What I want to see in Nokia phones

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008
In 2000, I switched from Motorola to Nokia. Last month I got my sixth Nokia phone, the E71. I will continue to buy Nokia phones as long as the following are met. Similarly, any of the following not met will give me reason to switch.

1. The power charger must remain the same.
2. Dialing out on tether is a must!
3. VOIP (wifi and GSM/UMTS) like the E series would be necessary.
4. The screen size has to grow. The E71 is same as the E65 and my 10-year old daughter's 6120.

Nokia should abandon the PC Suite and stick to its day job of making great phones. Let others, like Microsoft, do software. Just provide the drivers (modem and mass storage). I have not touched the PC Suite for many years now. I dial out from my notebook through the E71 using standard Vista Bluetooth drivers. However, I am unable to export my SMSes which I have accumulated from the last three phones. I am waiting for the day when the SMSes can simply be dragged out in one .txt file.

Thank you.

E65 TX Power level

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008
Hi. My problem is this:

In wireless advanced settings, I have like this:

Automatic config: Disabled
Long retry limit: 4
Short retry limit: 7
RTS: 2347
TX Power level: 100mW
Radio measurements: Enabled
Power saving: Disabled

All good. Then I connect to my home wireless. And then in the active links, in the TX Power level, only appears 50mW. If I configured 100mW, why the phone only uses half of the TX power level? :s

e71-1 3G in Canada?

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008
hi, im planning on purchasing the e71-1 or the e71-2 however, im a bit puzzled about the 3G. i dont know much about 3G besides its for video calling and web browsing i guess.

Questions:

1) does 3G affect web browsing speeds when using wifi?

2) if i were using the e71-1 in Canada, would the 3G work at all?

Sorry im quite a novice,

Thanks.

BH-604 Lag

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008
My BH-604 headphones are connected to my PC through a Bluetooth transceiver which only supports USB v1.1, and I'm experiencing a huge lag offset (Half a second). Is this normal, or would a better transceiver solve my problem?

N82 is getting slower

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008
i was trying to install something and by mistake i installed some wap web settings automatically ( the ones that u receive via sms) but for another model. and since then my phone is getting slower and chunky. I cant see the setting in profile but when i am trying to reinstall them i am receiving the msg that the settings are already installed. I tried to reset to factory setting but nothing.
Actually the menu that is being slow is the settings one.
Do u have any idea how to fix this NOT the reset code that is not an option.
Thank you.

6210 Navigator MAC address

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008
Hi,

I just got the 6210 navigator and have been trying to figure out where the MAC address on this thing is stored. The usual code *#62209526# doesn't work as my phone tries to send this off as a service request to the provider (3).

Anyone found the MAC address on this thing yet?

Thanks

John
